21st Century Skills Assessment

Sample Assessments

Below are 8-item sample tests to give you an idea of how 21st Century Skills Assessment uses a psychometrically validated blend of interactive, performance-based questions that allow students to authentically perform complex tasks in simulated applications, and multiple choice, knowledge-based questions. Actual 21st Century Skills Assessment tests are longer in length.

The assessment measures 21st century skills by assessing student abilities defined by each of the 24 ISTE performance indicators, with an average of 3 questions measuring each indicator. All questions assessing a single performance indicator assess different aspects of the same indicator. In many cases, this will be through a combination of performance based items that require a student to authentically show that they can perform a task in a software simulation, or accurately judge the best strategy or answer; as well as multiple choice questions using images or text that will require a student to make a decision that uses the 21st century skill defined by the ISTE performance indicator.

To ensure that our customers receive accurate reports, no question is used for scoring unless it has been first validated by established, third party psychometricians following extensive, nation-wide testing of the question. These sample questions are very similar to actual questions used on the assessment; Learning.com does not make live questions public.

NOTE: Students see 8 instruction screens before the first sample item. For sampling purposes, the "Turn In Test" button is inactive and will close the sample test.
