Learning.com joins the Partnership for 21st Century SkillsMembership in the Partnership will advance Learning.com’s mission to integrate 21st century skills into its solutions Portland, Ore. – February 3, 2009 "Learning.com has long been at the forefront of infusing 21st century skills into all we do, from our first product, EasyTech, a technology literacy curriculum, that integrates technology into core subjects, to our most recent 21st Century Skills Assessment that provides valid data on students' 21st century skills," says William J. Kelly, Learning.com CEO. "Our membership in P21 augments those efforts." Candace Petersen, Learning.com's President and Chief Operating Officer, serves on the Partnership's board of directors. The Partnership for 21st Century Skills has developed a unified, collective vision for 21st century learning that can be used to strengthen American education. The Partnership’s Framework for 21st Century Learning describes the skills, knowledge and expertise students must master to succeed in work and life. These include six key elements of a 21st century education that are reflected in Learning.com's solutions: core subjects, 21st century content, learning and thinking skills, information and communications technology, life skills, and 21st century assessments. "The Partnership and our member organizations encourage schools, districts and states to infuse 21st century skills (such as creativity and innovation, critical thinking and problem solving, global awareness, and financial literacy, among others) into education and provide tools and resources that help facilitate and drive this change,” said Ken Kay, president of the Partnership for 21st Century Skills “We are delighted to have Learning.com and Candace Petersen on our board.
